Four Spartans Named to All-EPAC Softball Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Four members of the Northampton Softball Team have been named to the inaugural Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) all-conference team.

Kristin Steiner, Shelby Belzecky, Melanie Hippenstiel and Karissa Frankenfield were named First Team All-Conference in a vote of the league coaches.

Steiner, a sophomore shortstop who was also named First Team All-Region, batted .433 with 8 triples and 35 RBI.

Belzecky, another First Team All-Region selection, led NCC with a .468 batting average, 40 RBI and 10 doubles.

Hippenstiel, a Third Team All-Region pick, was NCC's top hurler and also hit a team-high 4 homeruns and knocked in 34 runs.

Frankenfield, a freshman 3rd baseman, hit .324 and stole a team-best 17 bases.

The Spartans, who tied for the EPAC championship with a 3-1 conference mark, finished the season with an overall record of 22-14 and advanced to their 5th consecutive Region XIX Final Four.
